Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, an Antique c1900 Late Period Victorian Natural RAINBOW Opal Hand Engraved & Milgrained 10k Solid Rose Gold Ladies Cocktail Ring in GOOD CONDITION. This Antique Victorian 10k Solid Rose Ladies Cocktail Gold ring is set with an AMAZING 8x6mm RAINBOW Opal Triplet with ABUNDANT RARE RED/ORANGE FIRE with ELECTRIC GREEN & BLUE FIRE and AREAS OF GOLDEN & PURPLE FIRE. Again this is opal has RAINBOW fire that is visible across the opal. This is one of the more beautiful opals we have had the opportunity to offer. Also the luster of this gemstone is marvelous. Many opals only exhibit a couple of colors while this fantastic opal displays a RAINBOW of colors. The fire in this opal shifts depending on the viewing angle. As with all opals it is the most vivid in sunlight or full spectrum lighting. This is a triplet opal where the brightest genuine & natural solid opal is mounted on backing and covered with a protective clear quartz crystal cap. Since triplet opals were not in use in the Victorian era this ring probably had the opal added later. We took quite a few photos of this stunning opal under different lighting conditions to give an idea of the abundance and brightness of the fire and where it occurs. The waves and swirls on the opal in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections as the polished surface is difficult to photograph. This Opal is an Oval Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. This opal is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any cracks, nicks, scratches, or chips. This Solid 10k Rose Gold Setting has nice Hand Engraved & Milgrained details on the shoulders of the ring. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. This is a small Victorian ring so please use the measurements in the description and the explanation of the measurements given below along with the scale photo (photo #12) to determine the size and scale of the ring. The interior band is engraved in script "Edna" The darker oil slick look in the side engraved details is the natural patina of the ring that only comes with age. If you would like us to polish the ring further to remove this patina just let us know, it is no problem at all. Aside from a little bezel wear this ring is otherwise in GOOD CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
