Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, an Antique 1920's Art Deco Fancy Barrel Cut Onyx & Three Natural & Genuine Antique Cut Diamonds Hand Milgrained 10k Yellow & White Solid Gold Ladies Cocktail Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This ring is expertly set with a Beautiful 14x10mm Fancy Barrel Cut Genuine Onyx Gemstone. Barrel cut refers the half cylinder shape with parallel facets that resemble the staves of a handmade wooden barrel. This black onyx gemstone has been drilled and set with a long white gold diamond mount in which Three 1.5m Natural & Genuine Antique Single Cut Diamonds have been expertly channel set. The three diamonds are in the center in a line and are flanked by white gold decorative beads and hand done milgrain details. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. This type of antique single cut diamond has a larger table and a round girdle and no culet facet. A single cut diamond has 16 to 18 facets. This type of single cut is an early diamond cut dating to the 19th and early 20th century. The reason for the diamond to be cut in this manner is so that the light is brought in at such an angle that the vision which those gazing upon the diamond perceive is one of brilliance and fire. All three diamonds have very nice color and clarity and are guaranteed to be both Genuine & Natural. As far as clarity they are conservatively in the SI range. As far as color it is hard to say because they are mounted in white gold mount so our best estimate is that they are in the K-L range. The dark areas on the gold n the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This ring is hallmarked with a worn "10k" mark and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k Solid Gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) The bottom of the band has thinned over time but is perfectly stable and the ring is otherwise in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
