Up for sale is a recent Auction find, an Antique 1920's Art Deco LARGE TRUE RAINBOW RARE Black Natural Opal & 1/3ct Diamond 10k Solid Yellow & White Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This Antique 1920's Art Deco 10k Solid Yellow & White Gold ring is set with a LARGE STUNNING 16x12mm BRIGHT RAINBOW BLACK Triplet Opal with ABUNDANT RARE RED/ORANGE FIRE with ELECTRIC GREEN & BLUE FIRE and FLASHES OF GOLDEN & PURPLE FIRE. Again this is opal has BRIGHT RAINBOW fire that is visible across the opal. This is one of the more beautiful and bright opals we have had the opportunity to offer. Also the luster of this opal is marvelous. Many opals only exhibit a couple of colors while this fantastic opal displays a RAINBOW of colors. The fire in this opal changes color depending on the viewing angle. This is a triplet opal where the brightest genuine & natural solid opal is mounted on backing of onyx and then covered with a protective clear natural quartz crystal cap. We took quite a few photos of this stunning opal under different lighting conditions to give an idea of the abundance and brightness of the fire and where it occurs. The waves and swirls on the opal in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections as the polished surface is difficult to photograph. This Opal is a Triangular Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. This ring also features a STUNNING 4.5mm Natural & Genuine Antique Cut Diamond expertly set in a a triangular white gold mount. Using the diameter and depth of the diamond it is estimated to be between 0..30ct and 0.40ct. This Antique Cut is a hybrid between an Antique cut popular from the 1500's up to the 1900 and the top of the diamond is cut like an Antique European Cut. These Old European Cut gemstones came into existence after the Old Mine Cut variety yet prior to the round brilliant diamond cuts of today, sometime during the 1880's and were used well into the Art deco period in the 1920's. The Old European Cut Diamond has a few unique characteristics to it which enables individuals to identify them. Characteristics such as rounded appearance and hand faceting production are all traits which correspond with the Old European Cut Diamond. The reason for the diamond to be cut in this manner is so that the light is brought in at such an angle that the vision which those gazing upon the diamond perceive is one of brilliance and fire. This diamond has very nice color and clarity and is guaranteed to be both Genuine & Natural. As far as clarity it is conservatively in the VS range because we can see no visible inclusions using a 10x loupe. As far as color it is hard to say because it is mounted in white gold mount so our best estimate is that it is in the F-G range. The opal and diamond are in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches. This Classic 1920's ring has great fluted shoulder details in white gold. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold This ring is marked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k Solid Gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION will arrive ready to wear.
