This Antique 1920's Art Deco SIGNED Ostby & Barton 10k Solid Yellow Gold ring is set with a RARE Beautiful 14x12mm Natural Lapis Lazuli, Malachite Mother of Pearl & Onyx RARE Intarsia Inlay Gemstone. Intarsia inlay is made by precise fitting together of polished gemstones into a single multi gemstone unit. This GEMSTONE is a TRUE WORK of ART. The VIVID BLUE inlay is Natural Lapis Lazuli. Lapis Lazuli was once used to manufacture blue artistic paints before 1834. Many of the worlds masterpieces we painted using lapis based blues. This high quality Lapis is only found in Afghanistan and Egypt. Many ancient cultures believed that lapis enhanced self-expression. The green gemstone is Natural Malachite. Malachite has been carved into art and worn as jewelry for thousands of years. The white and black stripes are onyx and mother of pearl with beautiful shimmering iridescent luster. Mother of pearl, also called nacre, is an iridescent natural layer of material which forms the shell lining of many mollusks (oysters, abalone, etc). This inlay gemstone is Rectangular Cabochon Cut with Beautifully Beveled Edges. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. This intarsia gemstone is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any cracks, nicks, chips or breaks. The interior of the ring is stamped "OB" which is the hallmark for Ostby & Barton an extremely collectible and sought after vintage brand. Ostby & Barton, Providence R.I. The business was established in 1879 by Englehart C. Ostby and Nathan B. Barton. Ostby perished in the Titanic disaster while his daughter Helen made it to a lifeboat and survived. The company went on to become one of the most famous jewelry companies in the world. Ostby & Barton Jewelry is now an extremely collectible and highly sought after vintage brand. This Classic 1920's Art Deco 10k Solid Yellow Gold ring has beautifully ornate details on the shoulders of the setting. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This Art Deco ring was made using the stamping method common in the Art Deco era. This ring is fully hallmarked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k Solid Gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) Aside from some corner bezel wear this ring is otherwise in GOOD CONDITION will arrive ready to wear.
This is an Antique Ostby & Barton 1920's Art Deco Men's Ring not a copy or reproduction.
