Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, an Antique 1920's Art Deco SIGNED Ostby & Barton 1940's LARGE UNUSUAL Natural Emerald with Tourmaline in Matrix Hand Engraved & Milgrained 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring. This HEAVY 10.3 Gram (0.36 Ounce) Whopping Over 1/3 Ounce Antique 1920's Art Deco SIGNED Ostby & Barton 10k Solid Yellow Gold ring is set with an UNUSUAL LARGE 20x15mm Natural Emerald in matrix. The top of this ring is quite large at just under 1 inch long including the bezel frame. The emerald is semi-translucent and has spiderwebs of black tourmaline crystals, feldspar and quartz matrix. Chromium and vanadium play the biggest role in an emerald's green color. This Turquoise is a rectangular Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. Aside from some naturally occurring surface crazing lines this matrix emerald is otherwise in MINT PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any nicks, chips, breaks, or scratches. This ring has hand engraved & milgrained shoulders details. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. The interior of the ring is stamped "OB" which is the hallmark for Ostby & Barton an extremely collectible and sought after vintage brand. Ostby & Barton, Providence R.I. The business was established in 1879 by Englehart C. Ostby and Nathan B. Barton. Ostby perished in the Titanic disaster while his daughter Helen made it to a lifeboat and survived. The company went on to become one of the most famous jewelry companies in the world. Ostby & Barton Jewelry is now an extremely collectible and highly sought after vintage brand. This is a HEAVY and Substantial 10.3 Gram (0.36 Ounce) Whopping Over 1/3 Ounce 10k Solid Gold Ring. This ring is fully hallmarked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k Solid Gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) Aside from some gold detail wear this ring is otherwise in GOOD CONDITION will arrive ready to wear.
