Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find. an Antique 1920's Art Deco RARE Natural Lapis Lazuli & Onyx Intarsia Inlay Hand Engraved & Milgrained 10k Solid White Gold Ring in EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION. This Antique 1920's Art Deco 10k Solid White Gold ring is set with a Stunning 12.5x8.5mm Natural Lapis Lazuli & Onyx RARE Intarsia Inlay Gemstone. Intarsia inlay is made by precise fitting together of polished gemstones into a single multi gemstone unit. This GEMSTONE is a TRUE WORK of ART. The VIVID BLUE inlay is Natural Lapis Lazuli. Lapis Lazuli was once used to manufacture blue artistic paints before 1834. Many of the worlds masterpieces we painted using lapis based blues. This high quality lapis is only found in Afghanistan and Egypt. Many ancient cultures believed that lapis enhanced self-expression. The black is onyx which is a variety of natural chalcedony. Its name comes from the Greek "onyx" that means "claw" or "nail". The silver between the lapis and onyx is polished silver square wire to provide some contrast between the blue and black. This inlay gemstone is Curved Rectangular Cabochon Cut. The curve of the gemstone follows the curve of the ring beautifully. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. This Lapis & Onyx inlay gemstone is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches. This classic ng has hand engraved and milgrained details on the shoulders. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. This ring is a Victorian design but made in the Art Deco Era in White Gold that was invented in the 1920's and did not exist in the Victorian era. This is a smaller frame ring and would make a good Men's ring or could be sized up for larger fingers. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished white gold.
