Up for sale is one of the more unique rings we have offered, an Antique 1920's Art Deco SIGNED Ostby & Barton RARE Guilloche Enamel Eagle Signet Hand Engraved & Milgrained 10k Solid White Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This Original c1900 Victorian SIGNED Ostby & Barton Art Deco 10k Solid White Gold ring has Beautiful Blue Guilloche Enamel work. We have only seen a few Guilloche Enamel Ostby & Barton rings. Guilloche is French and means Engine turning and dates back to the 16th century. This effect is created by first engraving the metal plate and then adding the enamel to create more depth in the designs. This blue enamel has a radiating line pattern under the pearlescent blue enamel. The best known, but not the first, artist using this technique was Fabergéé, famous for their jeweled eggs. In addition to the blue enamel there is a line of white enamel on either side of the blue enamel. In the center an Eagle or Phoenix sits atop the enamel. The area below the eagle could be engraved by your local jeweler with a monogram if desired. The interior of the ring is also fully hallmarked with an "OB" and the RARE Three Dots which are the hallmarks for Ostby & Barton. Ostby & Barton, Providence R.I. The business was established in 1879 by Englehart C. Ostby and Nathan B. Barton. Ostby perished in the Titanic disaster while his daughter Helen made it to a lifeboat and survived. The company went on to become one of the most famous jewelry companies in the world. Ostby & Barton Jewelry is now an extremely collectible and highly sought after vintage brand. This classic 1920's Art Deco ring also has fantastic Hand Engraved & Milgrained details around the bezel and down the shoulders of the ring. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. This ring is marked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k Solid Gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION will arrive ready to wear.
