Up for sale is a recent find, an Antique 1930's Late Period Art Deco Antique Cut Natural Green Tourmaline 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This Antique 1930's Late Period Art Deco 10k Solid Yellow Gold Ring is set with a Beautiful 1ct 6mm NATURAL GREEN TOURMALINE with amazing MINT GREEN COLOR. This tourmaline is both Genuine & Natural and is guaranteed as such. This tourmaline has SUPERB LUSTER. Tourmaline gemstones exist in most colors of the rainbow. The name is derived from the Sinhalese word “toromalli,” which means mixed gems. The green color in this tourmaline is due to trace amounts of natural chromium. In the 1500s, a Spanish conquistador found green tourmaline in Brazil which he mistook for emerald. This tourmaline is a Round Antique Faceted European Cut and really glows in the light. European cut gemstones came into existence after the Old Mine Cut variety yet prior to the round brilliant cuts of today, sometime during the 1880's and were used well into the Art Deco period. The Old European Cut has a few unique characteristics to it which enables individuals to identify them. Characteristics such as rounded appearance, a small tall table and hand faceting production are all traits which correspond with the Old European Cut Gemstones The reason for the gemstone to be cut in this manner is so that the light is brought in at such an angle that the vision which those gazing upon the gemstone perceive is one of brilliance and fire. This tourmaline has inclusions and some internal fissures which are common in tourmaline but is otherwise EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION free of any breaks, nicks, or chips. Belcher style ring has a beautiful dimpled details in the concave areas around the tourmaline. Belcher rings became popular in the mid-18th century, named after the original designer, Thomas Belcher. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This ring is fully hallmarked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k solid gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
