Up for sale is the second ring from a pair of similar rings acquired at auction, an Antique 1920's Art Deco Signed Budlong Docherty & Armstrong LARGE 11ct Cushion Cut Blue Spinel Hand Milgrained 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This Antique 1920's Art Deco Signed Budlong Docherty & Armstrong 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring is set with an Amazing LARGE 11ct 16x14mm Cushion Cut Blue Spinel with the most Vibrant DEEP BLUE COLOR and NEAR PERFECT CLARITY. This spinel has SUPERB LUSTER. This spinel is a Cushion Cut with a Faceted Top that sparkles like a disco ball in the light. The Spinel Gemstone has a storied history because famous rubies & sapphires in crown jewels around the world are actually spinels. The most famous is the Black Prince's ruby, was actually a fantastic 170-carat red spinel that now adorns the Imperial State Crown of England in the British Crown Jewels. The spinel is now a treasured gemstone on its own, spinel is a favorite of gem dealers and collectors because if its brilliance, hardness and wide range of spectacular colors. This gemstone tests as a spinel on a Presidium Gem Tester and a reflectometer and is a very high quality lab grown spinel. A Lab Grown Spinel has the exact same physical, optical, and chemical properties of a Natural Spinel meaning it is as hard and scratch resistant. Aside from some light abrasion in a couple of spots this spinel is otherwise in GOOD CONDITION free of any nicks, cracks, scratches, or chips. The interior of the ring is stamped with the maker's mark of "BDA" which is the maker's mark of Budlong Docherty & Armstrong of Providence, Rhode Island established in 1915, a collectible and sought after vintage brand. The interior of the ring is stamped "PAT FEB" which means the ring was patented. This Classic 1920's Art Deco ring has ornate hand milgrained details on shoulders of the setting. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. The interior is engraved "C.M.M. to J.J.R." The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing highly polished gold. This ring is fully marked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k solid gold.
