This Antique 1920's Art Deco Solid Sterling Silver & 10k Gold Ring is set with a Stunning 16x12mm VERY RARE Natural #8 Mine Turquoise Gemstone. This #8 Mine Turquoise is of the HIGHEST QUALITY and has Beautiful Sky Blue Color with a chocolate colored matrix. This is all natural Turquoise that is not color enhanced in any way and is guaranteed as such. The #8 Turquoise mine in Eureka County north of Carlin Nevada was discovered in 1925 and first mined in 1929 until its depletion. The mine was closed as a result of the discovery of gold in 1976 when the Newton Gold Company claimed the area. In its prime, the Number 8 mine produced some of the largest nuggets of turquoise ever found. This Turquoise is a Rectangular Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. Aside from a little naturally occurring surface crazing this turquoise is otherwise in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION free of any chips, nicks, or breaks. The interior of the ring stamped "OB" which is the hallmark for Ostby & Barton an extremely collectible and sought after vintage brand. Ostby & Barton, Providence R.I. The business was established in 1879 by Englehart C. Ostby and Nathan B. Barton. Ostby perished in the Titanic disaster while his daughter Helen made it to a lifeboat and survived. The company went on to become one of the most famous jewelry companies in the world. Ostby & Barton Jewelry is now an extremely collectible and highly sought after vintage brand. This Solid Sterling Silver Setting has great 10k Gold Filled Accents with Classic 1920's Deco Architectural Shoulder Details. The darker oil slick look in the details and recessed areas is the natural patina of the ring that only comes with age. If you would like us to polish the ring further to remove this patina just let us know, it is no problem at all. One shoulder has worn accents (see red arrow in photo #11) but otherwise the ring is in GOOD CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
This is an Antique Ostby & Barton 1920's Art Deco Men's Ring not a copy or reproduction.
