Up for sale is a find from a large collection of Turquoise pieces acquired at Auction, an Antique 1920's Art Deco SIGNED Ostby & Barton Natural RARE COLLAPSED ORANGE MATRIX Kingman Mine Turquoise Hand Milgrained Solid Sterling Silver & 10k Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This Antique 1920's Art Deco Solid Sterling Silver & 10k Gold Ring is set with a Beautiful 12x10mm RARE COLLAPSED ORANGE Matrix Natural Kingman Turquoise cabochon. This Turquoise is natural and not color enhanced in any way. The Kingman mine in northwestern Arizona is one of the largest turquoise mines. Kingman blue is common, this Kingman is an AQUA BLUE/GREEN with an AMAZING RARE COLLAPSED ORANGE Matrix not commonly found in most Kingman Turquoise. Natural Kingman is highly collectible. The pattern in this turquoise formed when water infiltrated the turquoise and then oxidized iron worked into the crevices. Then over time pressure collapsed the matrix packing the formations in to this beautiful pattern. In the late 1880’s to the early 1900’s, Kingman Turquoise was mined by the Aztec Turquoise Co., the Los Angeles Gem Co., Arizona Turquoise Co., Southwest Turquoise Co. and Mineral Park Turquoise Co. The Kingman mine re-opened in September 2004 after being closed in the 1970’s. This Turquoise is a Rectangular Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. Turquoise is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION and is free of any chips, nicks, cracks or scratches. The interior of the ring stamped "OB" which is the hallmark for Ostby & Barton an extremely collectible and sought after vintage brand. Ostby & Barton, Providence R.I. The business was established in 1879 by Englehart C. Ostby and Nathan B. Barton. Ostby perished in the Titanic disaster while his daughter Helen made it to a lifeboat and survived. The company went on to become one of the most famous jewelry companies in the world. Ostby & Barton Jewelry is now an extremely collectible and highly sought after vintage brand. This Solid Sterling Silver Setting has great 10k Gold Filled Accents with Classic 1920's Deco Architectural Shoulder Details. This Classic 1920's Art Deco ring has ornate hand milgrained shoulder details. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. The darker oil slick look in the details and recessed areas is the natural patina of the ring that only comes with age. If you would like us to polish the ring further to remove this patina just let us know, it is no problem at all. This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
This is an Antique Ostby & Barton 1920's Art Deco Men's Ring not a copy or reproduction.
