EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION

Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, an Antique c1900 SIGNED Dattelbaum & Friedman Victorian Antique Cut 1.2ct Natural London Blue Topaz Hand Engraved 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This Antique SIGNED Dattelbaum & Friedman c1900 Victorian 10k Solid Gold ring is set with a Fantastic 6.3mm 1ct Antique Cut Natural London Blue Topaz with amazing VIVID BLUE COLOR and NEAR PERFECT CLARITY. This topaz has SUPERB LUSTER. Blue topaz can be found in lighter and darker tones. As in the case of other blue gems, the more saturated blues tend to have a higher value. So in topaz it is the London Blue that usually regarded as the most desirable. The word Topaz is derived from Topazos, a small island in the Red Sea, where the Romans obtained a stone which they called by this name. The ancient Greeks believed that topaz gave them strength. In Europe during the Renaissance people thought that topaz could break magic spells and dispel anger. This topaz is an Antique Round Cut. This Antique Cut is a hybrid between an Antique cut popular from the 1500's up to the 1900 and the top of an Antique European Cut. This topaz is both natural and genuine and guaranteed as such. These Antique Cut gemstones came into existence after the Old Mine Cut variety yet prior to the round brilliant diamond cuts of today, sometime during the 1880's and were used well into the Art Deco period in the 1920's. An Antique cut gemstone has a few unique characteristics to it which enables individuals to identify them. Characteristics such as rounded appearance, 58-facet cut and hand faceting production are all traits which correspond with Old European Cut gemstones. Another distinct characteristic of some antique cut gemstones similar to mine cut gems is a flat culet. Look through the top of this antique cut topaz and you will see what looks like a round window. The waves and swirls on the topaz in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections because the polished surface is difficult to photograph. This topaz is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION absolutely free of any chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches. This ring is hallmarked "D&F" which is the maker's mark for Dattelbaum & Friedman of New York, NY. They produced jewelry from c1896 through the 1950's. This is one of their very early pieces. The ring is a classic Victorian Belcher Setting in Solid 10k Yellow Gold with eight prongs that hold the topaz securely. This ring also has Beautiful Hand Engraved details. All eight Prongs are in EXCELLENT CONDITION which is RARE for an Original Victorian Belcher Setting Ring. This type of ring is named after Thomas Belcher, an American jewelry designer from the 19th Century, the Belcher setting features prongs built into the shank of the ring. The U-shaped curves separate the prongs and create a petal like design and reflect light into the gemstone. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This ring is fully hallmarked “10k” and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k solid gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.

This is an Original SIGNED Dattelbaum & Friedman Antique c1900 Victorian Men's Ring Dating to Around 1900 not a copy or reproduction.
