EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION
Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, an Antique SIGNED Ostby & Barton 1920's Art Deco .20ct Antique Cut Natural & Genuine Diamond Hans Milgrained 10k Solid White Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION. This Original Antique SIGNED Ostby & Barton 1920's Art Deco Solid White Gold Ring has a 15x12mm Octagonal Face with a STUNNING 3.5mm Natural & Genuine Antique Cut Diamond expertly set in a hexagonal mount in a polished shield. Using the diameter and depth of the diamond it is estimated to be between 0.18ct and 0.22ct. This Antique Cut is a hybrid between an Antique cut popular from the 1500's up to the 1900 and the top of the diamond is cut like an Antique European Cut. These Old European Cut gemstones came into existence after the Old Mine Cut variety yet prior to the round brilliant diamond cuts of today, sometime during the 1880's and were used well into the Art deco period in the 1920's. The Old European Cut Diamond has a few unique characteristics to it which enables individuals to identify them. Characteristics such as rounded appearance and hand faceting production are all traits which correspond with the Old European Cut Diamond. The reason for the diamond to be cut in this manner is so that the light is brought in at such an angle that the vision which those gazing upon the diamond perceive is one of brilliance and fire. This diamond has very nice color and clarity and is guaranteed to be both Genuine & Natural. As far as clarity it is conservatively in the VS range because we can see no visible inclusions using a 10x loupe. As far as color it is hard to say because it is mounted in white gold mount so our best estimate is that it is in the F-G range. This Diamond is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches. This classic 1920's Art Deco ring also has fantastic hand milgrained details on the shoulder of the setting. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. The interior of the ring is also fully hallmarked with the maker's mark "OB" which is the hallmark for Ostby & Barton an extremely collectible and sought after vintage brand. Ostby & Barton, Providence R.I. The business was established in 1879 by Englehart C. Ostby and Nathan B. Barton. Ostby perished in the Titanic disaster while his daughter Helen made it to a lifeboat and survived. The company went on to become one of the most famous jewelry companies in the world. Ostby & Barton Jewelry is now an extremely collectible and highly sought after vintage brand. This ring was manufactured using a stamping method common during that era. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished white gold. This ring is fully hallmarked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k solid gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
This is an Antique SIGNED Ostby & Barton 1920's Art Deco Men's ring not a copy or reproduction.

Regarding Ring Sizing: Be wary of any online seller that offers sizing of a ring before it is shipped to you. Due to differences in measuring devices and the way certain types of rings fit these rings should only be sized in person by your local jeweler. Sizing by your local jeweler is relatively inexpensive and you will have a ring that properly fits your finger. All size 9 rings are not the same. The ring may fit on a mandrel and measure as a size 9 but the way the ring is made, the way the ring has been enlarged or reduced, and the finger type you have may make it fit like an 8 or 10 or worse. Have your sizing done in person for a proper fit.
