Up for sale is an Estate Auction find, an Antique 1930's SIGNED Greene Jewelry Co. Late Period Art Deco BRIGHT RAINBOW Black Natural Opal Hand Milgrained 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION. This SIGNED Greene Jewelry Co. Antique 1930's Late Period Art Deco 10k Solid Yellow Gold ring is set with a STUNNING 12x10mm BRIGHT RAINBOW BLACK Triplet Opal with ELECTRIC GREEN & BLUE FIRE and RARE ORANGE/RED FIRE & FLASHES OF GOLDEN & PURPLE FIRE. Again this is opal has BRIGHT RAINBOW fire, that is visible across the opal. This is one of the more colorful opals we have had the opportunity to offer. Also the luster of this opal is marvelous. Many opals only exhibit a couple of colors while this fantastic opal displays a RAINBOW of colors. The fire in this opal changes depending on the viewing angle. As with all opals it is the most vivid in sunlight or full spectrum lighting. This is a triplet opal where the brightest genuine & natural solid opal is mounted on backing of onyx and then covered with a protective clear natural quartz crystal cap. We took quite a few photos of this stunning opal under different lighting conditions to give an idea of the abundance and brightness of the fire and where it occurs. The waves and swirls on the opal in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections as the polished surface is difficult to photograph. This Opal is an Octagonal Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. This opal is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any cracks, nicks, scratches, or chips. The ring has the circle G hallmark used by the William C. Greene Jewelry Company of Providence, RI. The interior of the ring is stamped with "PAT. NO. 2014122" meaning the patent had been applied for. We found the hand drawn patent for a similar ring done by George A. Armstrong a Designer for the William C. Greene Jewelry Company of Providence, RI established in 1849. Go to the Google Patents site and search for "US2014122A" see the Original September 10, 1935 hand drawn patent. This classic ring has great ornate buckle details highlighted with hand done milgrain accents on the shoulders of the setting. Milgrain edging looks so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the pattern is able to make the decorative edging look like tiny beads. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. This ring also has a comfortable solid back design. This ring has a smaller frame design so please use the measurements in the description and the explanation of the measurements given below along with the scale photo (photo #12) to determine the size and scale of the ring. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This ring is fully hallmarked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k solid gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
