Up for sale is an Estate Auction find, an Antique SIGNED House of Kraus 1930's Late Period Art Deco Natural Lapis Lazuli, Malachite, Tigers Eye, Red Jasper & Onyx Intarsia Inlay Hand Engraved & Milgrained 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This Antique SIGNED House of Kraus 1930's Late Period Art Deco 10k Solid Yellow Gold ring is set with a Beautiful 16x12mm Natural Lapis Lazuli, Malachite Tiger's Eye Red Jasper & Onyx RARE Intarsia Inlay. Gemstone. Intarsia inlay is made by precise fitting together of polished gemstones into a single multi gemstone unit. This GEMSTONE is a TRUE WORK of ART. The VIVID BLUE inlay is Natural Lapis Lazuli. Lapis Lazuli was once used to manufacture blue artistic paints before 1834. Many of the worlds masterpieces we painted using lapis based blues. This high quality Lapis is only found in Afghanistan and Egypt. Many ancient cultures believed that lapis enhanced self-expression. The deep green gemstones are Natural Malachite. Malachite has been carved into art and worn as jewelry for thousands of years. The golden brown/yellow gemstones are Natural Tiger's Eye. Tiger's Eye is a crystal with beautiful bands of yellow-golden color throughout. One of the Tier's Eye gemstones has an interesting reflective metallic mineral band in it. The red gemstone is Red Jasper. The red color comes from oxidized iron deposits in the silica based gem. The black gemstones are onyx. Also the base/back of the intarsia is onyx. This inlay gemstone is an Octagonal Cabochon Cut with Beautifully Beveled edges. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. This intarsia gemstone is in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any cracks, nicks, chips or breaks. This Classic Art Deco ring also has Beautiful Hand Engraved details highlighting the ornate shoulder elements. The interior of the ring is hallmarked "HofK" the maker's mark used by House of Kraus Jewelry of Pittsburgh. House of Krause was established in 1934 and is no longer in business. This is one of their early pieces. This classic Art Deco ring also has fantastic hand engraved & milgrained details on the shoulders of the setting. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This ring is fully marked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k solid gold.
