Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, an Antique 1930's SIGNED Greene Jewelry Co. Late Period Art Dec LARGE BRIGHT RAINBOW Natural Opal Hand Milgrained 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION. This SIGNED Stern & Stern of New York 1930's Late Period Art Deco 10k Solid Yellow Gold ring is set with a LARGE STUNNING 16x12mm RAINBOW Triplet Opal with ELECTRIC GREEN & BLUE FIRE and ABUNDANT RARE RED/ORANGE FIRE & FLASHES OF GOLDEN & PURPLE FIRE. Again this is opal has BRIGHT RAINBOW fire, that is visible across the opal. This is one of the more colorful opals we have had the opportunity to offer. Also the luster of this opal is marvelous. Many opals only exhibit a couple of colors while this fantastic opal displays a RAINBOW of colors. The fire in this opal changes depending on the viewing angle. As with all opals it is the most vivid in sunlight or full spectrum lighting. This is a triplet opal where the brightest genuine & natural solid opal is mounted on backing of onyx and then covered with a protective clear natural quartz crystal cap. We took quite a few photos of this stunning opal under different lighting conditions to give an idea of the abundance and brightness of the fire and where it occurs. The waves and swirls on the opal in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections as the polished surface is difficult to photograph. This Opal is a Rectangular Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. Aside from a small blemish in one corner in the opal (we couldn't get it to show up in the photos but you can see it at certain angles) it is otherwise in the PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any breaks, nicks, or scratches. This ring is stamped with the maker's mark of "Romany" which means is was made by Stern & Stern of New York. Stern & Stern was established in New York 1929, a collectible and sought after antique brand. This classic Art Deco ring also has fantastic Hand Milgrained details accenting the raised details on the shoulders of the setting. Milgrain details look so beautiful, appealing and interesting because the beaded pattern is able to make the area resemble the edge of a coin. A specialized jeweler's hand tool is used to create interesting texture that is said to resemble tiny beading or embroidery. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This ring is fully hallmarked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k Solid Gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION will arrive ready to wear.
