Up for sale is a recent Estate Auction find, a Vintage 1940's .25ct Antique Cut Diamond & Onyx Handwrought 10k Solid Yellow & White Gold Men's Ring in MINT PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION. This HEAVY 8.1 Gram (0.29 Ounce) Over 1/4 Ounce Original Vintage 1940's 10k Solid Yellow & White Gold Ring is set with a 15.5x12mm Genuine Onyx Gemstone. This rectangular black onyx gemstone with beautifully beveled edges has been drilled and an EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY 4.0mm .25ct Natural & Genuine Antique Cut Diamond has been expertly set in a white gold mount and peen set into the drilled onyx gemstone. This Diamond is a cross between an Old European Cut and a Brilliant Cut. These Antique Cuts are more rare that a more common round brilliant cuts. Because the geometry of this cut it creates a larger volume diamond, these cuts generally have a higher carat weight than modern stones that may look similarly sized. European cut gemstones came into existence after the Old Mine Cut variety yet prior to the round brilliant diamond cuts of today, sometime during the 1880's and were used well into the Art Deco period in the 1920's. The Antique Cut Diamonds have a few unique characteristics to it which enables individuals to identify them. Characteristics such as more rounded appearance and hand faceting production are all traits which correspond with Antique Cut Diamonds. The reason for the diamond to be cut in this manner is so that the light is brought in at such an angle that the vision which those gazing upon the diamond perceive is one of brilliance and fire. This diamond has very nice color and clarity and is guaranteed to be both Genuine & Natural. As far as clarity it is in the VS range because we can see very few inclusions with a 10x loupe. There are no flaws visible to the naked eye. As far as color it is hard to say because it is mounted in white gold reflective white gold mount so our best estimate is that it is in the G-F range. The diamond and onyx are in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches. The interior of the ring is stamped "HANDWROUGHT" meaning fashioned by hand or chiefly by hand processes. This is a Heavy and Substantial 8.1 Gram (0.29 Ounce) Over 1/4 Ounce 10k Solid Gold Ring. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold.
