Up for bid is a recent Estate Auction find, a Vintage 1950's SIGNED Ullenberg Jewelry ORANGE/RED/GOLDEN & GREEN Natural Solid Opal & Two Diamond 10k Solid Yellow Gold Men's Ring in EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION. This Vintage 1950's 10k Solid Yellow Gold ring is set with a BEAUTIFUL 9x7mm 0.75ct Natural Solid Opal with ORANGE/RED/GOLDEN & GREEN FIRE and Fantastic Luster. This natural solid opal has Flashes of ORANGE/RED/GOLDEN & GREEN FIRE. This is a semi-translucent base solid opal meaning light can pass into the opal giving it depth of color. This Amazing Natural Solid Opal has not been treated or color enhanced in any way and is guaranteed as such. We took quite a few photos of this opal under different lighting conditions to give an idea of the abundance and brightness of the fire and where it occurs. As you move the opal the fire shifts in brightness and from ORANGE/RED/GOLDEN to GREEN. This Opal is a Domed Oval Cabochon Cut. Cabochon refers to a gemstone that has been shaped and highly polished instead of being faceted. This opal is natural solid welo opal that has its origins in the Wollo Province in the horn of Africa. The term “Solid Opal” means that the opal you are looking at is indeed a solid chunk of the opal and not a sliver of opal set on a background which would be a doublet or triplet opal. Solid opals are more rare and valuable. This ring is vintage 1950's and probably originally had a Linde sapphire or another type of cabochon. This opal was cut and expertly bezel set later since welo opals came into use about 30 years ago. This ring also features a Two 1mm Natural & Genuine Single Cut Diamonds expertly bead set in recessed white gold triangular mounts. Both Diamonds have nice color. Both Diamonds are guaranteed to be both Genuine & Natural. The opal and both diamonds are in PERFECT PRISTINE CONDITION free of any chips, nicks, cracks, or scratches. This yellow gold ring has a beautiful hand brushed accented finish. The ring is signed "UJ" which indicates it was made by Ullenberg Jewelry of New York, a company that moved to Chattanooga mid-century and later became the Ullenberg Corporation. The dark areas on the gold in the photos are not blemishes but shadows and reflections due to the difficulty in photographing the highly polished gold. This ring is fully hallmarked "10k" and tests as and is guaranteed to be 10k solid gold. (Again this ring is guaranteed to be Solid Gold not plated or layered) This ring is in EXCEPTIONAL NEAR MINT CONDITION and will arrive ready to wear.
